The Labour Government has over the past 13 years continuously caused employers and their work force huge head aches when a good government should have encouraged and promoted business development.

I became politically active because of the disappointing lack of government support for commercial enterprise, which is the  best way of creating an Economic Recovery.

The Conservative Party have plans for the largest overhaul of British energy policy since the early 1980s.

We will take decisive action to promote nuclear and renewable power, through streamlined planning, a floor price for carbon and improved infrastructure.

Due to the huge future potential we have here in Hull for Renewable Energy I am meeting with Industry leaders of the area. It is essential that Hull is given the best possible platform to encourage Energy Giants to invest here on the Humber Banks. 

Conservative Shadow Minister, Mark_Francois MP is making a visit to Hull next week, he will meet with Marine, Engineering and Shipping leaders of the Humber to hear first hand about the aspirations we have for future Industrial Development in the area.

The future growth of Hull, it’s jobs and the aspiration of our young people it reliant upon the area attracting big investment from a future Government and International Companies. The Conservative Team in Hull will keep Hull at the for front so we aren’t forgotten about!!!

The NAO found many prisoners were spending all day in their cells rather than being engaged in training and rehabilitation. They went on to report,  prisoners serving less than a year have the highest reoffending rates and the most convictions, an average of 16.

Around 60,000 prisoners are jailed for less than 12 months each year, costing taxpayers £300m.  Most spend as few as 45 days inside, and are released automatically at the halfway point of their sentence.  But in that time they are not given “appropriate assistance” to help them turn around their lives.

The report concludes that short jail terms do not offer value for money. A six-week spell in prison costs £4,500 – £300 more than a highly intensive two-year community order involving unpaid work and rehabilitation schemes.

And overall, with 60% of short-sentenced prisoners committing another crime within a year of getting out, the social and economic cost to the country was between £7bn and £10bn a year. 

We will never bring the cost of crime down unless we start to reform prisoners. So a Conservative government will introduce a rehabilitation revolution, in which providers of rehabilitation services in prison and the community will share in the savings they create by reducing crime.

They then went to a Bransholme Primary School to hear about some  pastoral issues our local schools face each day. The Conservatives are very determined to make policy on the back of practical experience by listening to the Grass Roots !!!

The day was rounded off with Dominic and Alan meeting local residents and local business people.

This is another reason to believe the Conservatives Care about what happens here in Hull.

The Conservatives are matching the Government’s commitment exactly. Members of the Conservative Party who receive ministerial salaries will have both the ministerial and MP elements of their salaries frozen.

If we win the election and form the next government, incoming ministers will inherit the ministerial salaries that the Government is setting today – including the MP element. We will then immediately cut them by 5 per cent, and freeze them for a further five years.

Microchips in bins

Labour ministers are secretly planning to roll out bin taxes across the country after the election if Gordon Brown can cling to power. The Government has already forced through bin tax laws and has been funding the bin technology to collect the taxes. Labour’s bin taxes, supported by the Liberal Democrats, will harm the environment by fuelling fly-tipping and backyard burning.  

We strongly favour schemes where residents willingly opt in and are rewarded for recycling. Yet the secret and covert march of Bin Brother is not about going green, but just a sneaky way for Gordon Brown to hike up local taxes.

All I can see from this  form of Tax is TROUBLE… TROUBLE…and more TROUBLE.

How will they control who puts what in which bin????  

‘Don’t put your muck in my dustbin, my dustbin my dustbin…..’  or Labour and Lib Dems will charge me!!!!

At the election, voters face a clear choice on the economy. Five more years of Gordon Brown will put the recovery at risk.  David Cameron and the Conservatives will act now on debt to help keep mortgage rates low and get the economy moving.

Five more years of Gordon Brown would put the recovery at risk with:

·         Interest rate rises choking off growth.

·         Mortgage rates up for millions of families.

·         The UK’s credit rating put at risk.

·         A divided Government elected on a promise to keep spending, suddenly having to jam on the brakes.

A Conservative government will take action now to deal with Labour’s debt crisis, providing confidence to businesses and families up and down the country and keeping interest rates lower for longer, so that we can unleash the forces of enterprise and show Britain is open for business again.

VOTE FOR CHANGE AND WE WILL:

1.      Act now on debt to get the economy moving.  Deal with the deficit more quickly than Labour so that mortgage rates stay lower for longer with the Conservatives.

2.      Get Britain working by boosting enterprise. Cut corporation tax rates, abolish taxes on the first ten jobs created by new businesses, promote green jobs, and get people off welfare and into work.

3.      Make Britain the most family-friendly country in Europe. Freeze council tax and raise the basic state pension, recognise marriage in the tax system and back couples in the benefits system, support young families with extra health visitors, and fight back against crime.

4.      Back the NHS. Increase spending on health every year, and make the NHS work for patients not managers.

5.      Raise standards in schools. Give teachers the power to restore discipline, and create new smaller schools.

6.      Change politics. Reduce the number of MPs, cut Whitehall and quangos by a third, and let taxpayers see where their money is being spent.

Today a report has been published saying that the government are asking Heads to list children as young as five on school ‘hate registers’ over everyday playground insults.

Schools and teachers need the powers to deal firmly with bullying and indiscipline. Homophobic and racist bullying is particularly repellent, and teachers will want to deal with bullies who engage in this behaviour with particular severity. But the right approach is not additional bureaucracy. Instead it is more discretion for professionals. Current regulations stop teachers from dealing with bullies firmly and fairly. A future Conservative government would give teachers all the powers they need to deal with disorder, whether it is in the classroom or in the playground.
